Eda Rose began her career in media as a South African radio host, and unlike most newcomers to the industry, who start out on graveyard shifts, Eda started off on prime time and you will have recognized her infectious laugh back in 2011 when co-hosting Yfm’s ‘Flava in Da Mornin’ with Mo Flava. For this she won the iKusasa Youth Expo And Awards’ Award for ‘On Air Personality Of The Year’ (2012). This inspired her to later host her very own radio show called the ‘Sweet Escape with Eda Rose’ on TransAfrica Radio in 2013.
The delightful Miss Rose has since gone on to explore her flair as a voice over artist representing brands such as cellular network – MTN and Play Girls’s deodorant TV advertisement. In this regard she has also recently lent her voice to a character on Leon Schuster 2013 movie, “Schuks!…Your Country Needs You’ as well as MC’ed at a variety of events.
Having an Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance from London Metropolitan University, England and a passion for fashion, Eda has used her acquired knowledge in entrepreneurial ventures through which she has acquired business acumen.
Eda who currently lives in South Africa, where she was born derives her striking beauty from her Xhosa mother and Italian father, which has only assisted her in trying her hand at modelling – successfully being one of the lucky few picked in 2011 to be an Ambassador for ‘Supremebeing’, a clothing line. Following this, Eda has also appeared on billboards across Africa, being selected as one of two South African faces to represent the 1st Annual Hair Expo that also took place in 2012.
Although her energies are spread across a broad spectrum, music still remains her first love and her first single, ‘Handle That’ featuring rapper AB Crazy, has aired and received applause on South African radio stations. Eda‘s acting debut came in 2012 in a South African feature film, ‘Taxi Ride’, directed by David Kau which then moved on to become a 5-part television series on Dstv’s Mzansi Magic. ’Official’ as her fans have nicknamed her, has also appeared in theatre productions, such as ‘The Kidnapping of Katy O’Hara’ and ‘Macbeth’ playing the supporting role both times at the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy.
Not being one to rest on her laurels, Eda has also made time to serve as an Ambassador for NGO’s such as ‘Food and Trees for Africa’ and ‘Cheesekids’ – where she is still assists to this day. Miss Rose’s work has been covered by many South African magazines such as True Love, Glamour, Grazia, Bona, Glamour Hair, Soul, Shimmer and Voila – just to name a few.
In 2011 this style-preneur combined her talent, her love for fashion and designed her own shoe and bag line called ‘ER Collection’ -which is known for its high quality, (being handmade) and extreme 13 sizes cut of each shoe style, exclusivity. Eda completed this venture in February 2016 with her second and last line, taking entrepreneurship to another level and moving on to new adventures as a brand influencer.
Eda Rose’s talent, work ethics and determination commands attention. This petite beauty is one to look out for, as she is ready, to not only show SA but the world what she still has to offer. Do remember that Eda was also featured as 1 of the 12 faces to watch out for by international women’s magazine ‘Glamour’ in 2012. This trailblazer is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and the saying ’dynamite comes in small packages’, may very well have been coined with this young lady in mind. Despite all her successes she still remains down to earth and seeks to inspire the next generation while still exploring new scenes.
